Popular course One of the world's most played courses

Thanks to its unique location, the disc golf course at Holmenkollen has become one of the most popular in the world.

“In 2024, we surpassed 100,000 registered rounds on the course here at Holmenkollen. Not many places in the world can boast that,” says Jørn Idar Almås Kvig, the founder of the disc golf course at Holmenkollen.

He volunteers at Holmenkollen, where his duties include maintenance, in addition to organizing tournaments. The registrations he refers to are on the UDisc platform, a digital service for disc golf courses around the world. In addition, many people play on the course without registering.

For beginners and experienced users

“The disc golf course at Holmenkollen has 18 holes and is suitable for all skill levels. The holes are fun—especially the ones up by the pond below the ski jump—but they’re a bit challenging,” says Almås Kvig.

He also highlights the area around Holmenkollen Chapel, which offers an incredible view.

Requires minimal equipment

To get started, all you really need is one Frisbee. It’s free to play, and you don’t need to reserve a court.

If you want to take your game to the next level, there are three main types of Frisbees:

Driver: It flies a long way and is typically used on the first cast. It’s not that easy to control.

Midrange: It's a little easier to control, but it still goes quite far.

Putter: This is easier to control and is used close to the hole.
